What are the qualifications?
Linked directly to national occupational standards that are supported by the Health and Safety Executive, this suite of qualifications is the new national standard for working in confined spaces and is accredited on the national framework.
Who are they for?
These qualifications are for anyone working in confined spaces, whether it is the classification of confined spaces, entering and existing, overseeing or emergency rescue and recovery.
What sorts of things do they cover?
Depending on which qualification you take, you'll cover things like:
• preparing to enter and work safely in confined spaces
• entering and exiting confined spaces
• preparing and using respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for working and escape purposes
• using equipment and tools safely
• dealing with emergencies
How will I learn and be assessed?
You will look at areas such as: risk assessments, classifications of confined spaces, equipment and procedures. Each qualification is assessed through a practical observation and written assessment.
How long do they take?
Guided learning hours are the recommended hours you spend in the learning and assessment environment. The guided learning hours for these qualifications vary depending on the qualification type, but typically are anything between 1 to 3 days.
